On Monday, September 17, there will be a reading of Marisa's new play SEX AND OTHER DISTURBANCES. The play asks how we sustain love, friendship, intimacy and connection in long-term relationships. The cast includes Ava Burton, Sheldon Donenberg, Ben Farrow, Sara Guerrero, Jalon Matthews and Rachel Rosenfeld. Therapist Michele McCormick will facilitate the post-play conversation.

The reading will be held at Sandra Jones Campbell’s art studio, 2173 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach, behind Classic Cars. There is limited on-site parking. Doors open at 7 PM, and the reading begins at 7:30. Come early to secure your seats, have some wine, and enjoy the art and company of friends.

Seating is limited, so please show up! If you RSVP and must cancel, we ask that you do so via email one day before the performance so we can accommodate other theatre-goers. We don’t want to turn anyone away!

Marisa Smith's play THINK LIKE A MAN will be produced by New Jersey Rep in their THEATER BRUT FESTIVAL: 2018, WHEN THE CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN on Saturday, September 29th at 2pm.

THINK LIKE A MAN: Denise and Lily wait for their husbands to arrive with their kids so they can all go Trick or Treating, and discuss a very sensitive topic.  Denise tries to convince Lily to see things in a different light.  A politically incorrect comic journey.

Marisa's play THE DRESS REHEARSAL will be featured in THE BEST OF TENFEST, an evening of the best 10 minute plays produced in Valley Player annual event over the past eleven years.

In this two-hander, the Mother, Dorothy, tries to convince her grown daughter, Marci, that they should have a dress rehearsal of Dorothy's funeral.

Orville and Theresa's marriage is tested at the breakfast table one morning in Ferber's timeless take on an age-old problem. Can this marriage be saved? And will Theresa ever serve Orville another egg???

Boston Playwrights' Theatre to Present BOSTON THEATER MARATHON XIX

Marisa Smith's play CUBS WIN! produced by the New Repertory Theater will be performed. 

Marisa Smith, playwright in residence at the Hermitage Artist Retreats, presented a free workshop for writers, playwrights and would-be-playwrights on 10-minute plays in Sarasota, FL. The session included reading published scripts and creating one 10-minute play as a group. 

Portland Stage in Maine, the leading professional theater in Northern New England will produce Marisa'a new comedy SEX AND OTHER DISTURBANCES in May of 2018.

To date, Portland Stage, founded in 1974, has produced 346 plays and counting, including 48 world premieres.

SEX AND OTHER DISTURBANCES is a five character comedy. Sarah, Alan and Ruth find themselves on the treacherous shoals of midlife in this dark comedy of unintended consequences, the possible end of the world and the unbreakable bond of friendship. Adultery, a penthouse full of wild vegetation and a rain that doesn’t stop.  Or does it?

SEX AND OTHER DISTURBANCES will be directed by acclaimed Australian film and theater director, Nadia Tass.
